Olympics

I look forward to the Olympics.  My favorite is the downhill racers simply because I ski and know how difficult it is to go that fast with that much precision.  Ever since seeing the movie Miracle, and skiing in Lake Placid, I watch ice hockey, but I confess, that is the only time I watch hockey games.  This year, I am going to be forces to watch figure skating.  Don’t get me wrong.  I have skated and know how hard it is to just skate around, never mind the quadruple cow things or the triple klutz’.  It just doesn’t work for me.  Maybe if I got a job as a commentator, it would all make sense………

Frozen

What is it about Frozen? I have been pondering this question since the movie came out.  You cannot walk down the halls of the high school without hearing “Let it Go” or “Fixer Upper”.  The music is good, catchy and easy to sing, but that’s not it.  But I think I found the answer.  The animated movie is, in reality, a Broadway show. Which, is actuality, is going to be a Broadway show.  If you listen to the dialogue and the music, you will see what I mean.  There will be little the producers need to do to prepare this for stage.  Clever and interesting, it is sure to be a hit.  I wonder if they have casted Olaf yet?

The Hobbit 2

I saw The Hobbit, Desolation of Smaug.  I liked it better than the last Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey, and although it kept my interest, I was a little bored.  Peter Jackson did an outstanding job, especially in his choice of filming and did keep close to the story, but added too much to make three films when one  or two would have  sufficed.  For example, adding the story line of Legolas the elf, played by Orlando Bloom, who was not in the Hobbit, was somewhat ok but then creating a new character , Tauriel, so that he could have a love interest and then have the love spurned when Tauriel falls for a dwarf, is a bit much.  The scenes with Smaoug were also a bit embellished, but done well and cool to watch.  At times I was almost routing for the dragon...too cool. With all of this said, I look forward to the third Hobbit, but know this trilogy can never compare to the Lord of the Rings, and I am pretty sure it is not supposed to.

 

spiderman

"Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark" is going dark.  Yes, it is time for the Spider 
to fly off Broadway onto another adventure, but, wait, he won't have all of his 
clothing. The National Museum of American History is taking one of the suits for 
display.  I am not sure how I feel about this. Is Spider-Man Smithsonian worthy? 
Do people actually like Spider-Man even though the play never got the desired 
results? According to the local comic book store proprietor, Spidy is hotter 
than ever. Well that settles that.  End of story.

mayor

Remember Rob Ford, the Canadian, crack-smoking, Mayor? Well, he's running for 
mayor yet again.  His reasoning is simple.  He may be a drug user, and act in a 
crazy manor at news conferences,  but he feels that he was a great mayor who did 
great things, so does anything else matter?  I can't wait to see if he gets 
re-elected.  Oh, Canada!
