Hobbits

Well today was an adventure! I saw the Hobbit, and it was well, ok. I am really comparing the Hobbit the the original Lord of the Rings trilogy in this review, so here it goes. You probably would not get the Hobbit if you haven't seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy and if you haven't, go see it NOW!!! Anyway, Bilbo, the protagonist, was living the quiet life until Gandalf, a wizard, urged him onto an adventure. In comes 13 dwarves, who sing, dance and eat a lot.  ok, that was believable.  Then this merry group goes on their quest to take back the dwarves treasure that was stolen from them by the vicious, evil, talking, dragon, Smaug.  They meet trolls and almost die, but don't.  They meet orcs and almost die, but don't.  Then they meet goblins and almost die, but don't.   This part was all totally believable, but what wasn't was why the giant eagles who rescue Bilbo and the dwarfs after their narrow escape from the Goblin cave didn't drop them off of their destination, the dwarf's mountain only a few miles away, or why they added 2 extra wizards (they were buzz kills in my opinion).  The oddest moment of all was at the end when Thorin, head dwarf after being saved by Bilbo, said, to Bilbo,  I hate you, you are worthless, etc then says that"s not what he thinks anymore.  It was so random that I just laughed out of confusion. Overall, it was a good movie that is all.....

Practing

So, today feels like a practice day. Technically, I am practicing blogging but, more literally, it was a crazy day full of running around (from all of the sugar). I really practiced drumming, and finding/creating new beats. Thats all....

writers

Writers are jerks..... so I became one. Writers tend to leave you hanging on for more.  I guess that is why they call them cliffhangers. I HATE THIS. I just want to find out what happens, no wait, ugg. This is primary used in TV shows to make you watch the next season or episode. For example, in the show, How I Met Your Mother, the viewer thinks one thing would happen and then, just like that, a completely different thing occurs.  Barney (NPH) was supposed to propose to Patrice but it was a trick to get Robin to a place so that he could propose to her.  I imagine that everyone who watched the show last night gasped at the change of events.  The show also does an amazing job at showing the viewer a scene in one episode and then in a later episode showing an entirely different view of the scenes events which inevitably lead to a different outcome.  Geniuses? Cleverness? Luck? all of the above? Whatever it is, I hope to figure it out one day so that I can do the same thing.

running and reflection

So today until 11 I had to go to a track meet. It was fun but tiring. I was sleeping on the bus by the end. But while I was sleeping i was listening to music. This made me realize the positive effect of music on people. I felt some songs brought me down while others, brought me up. I also listened to music while coloring (long story), and I realized that pep songs made me color bright colors while sad ones made me color darker colors. What does this all mean? I guess you will find out later

My first new post

Hey, what's up everyone who is reading this right now! This is my new home because the people at blogger decided one day that "hey, Austin's old blog is interesting, lets take it down", so they did. Since this is my first post on this new blog, and that I haven't figured out how to tag posts yet, I decided to blatantly state that this post is one about me pondering/inquiring. "What am I pondering/inquiring about today?" I am pondering/inquiring about life, the universe and everything, or, more specifically, the universe of the popular cartoon Adventure Time! Now, at first you look at Adventure Time as a silly cartoon about a boy and his magical talking dog who go on adventures in the land of Ooo. What you are thinking is what I also thought at first, so I started watching it. As I really got into the show, I started noticing weird objects around Ooo. No, not the waving snail in every episode, but in each episode there were remnants of modern day civilization, and that Finn, the protagonist, is the only human in the world (other than possibly Susan Strong). Being bored one day, I checked the Adventure Time! Wiki and what I found shocked me! The show actually takes place in a post apocalyptic world after nuclear war. This amazed me, how a cartoon can be dark and in depth. While watching even more episodes the plot gets even more wild.  The Ice King steals princesses because before the war he put on the Ice King crown which gave him visions, which caused his fiancĂ©e to leave him. Marceline, Finn's vampire friend, was given a stuffed bear as a child, during the nuclear war, but the Ice King, due to the visions, doesn't remember giving her the bear, or even remember her or anything from before the nuclear war. While trying to take in these tragic stories, I realized that almost every episode has inner meaning. The Ice King and Marceline represents a granddaughter who has a grandfather with Alzheimers. An episode when Finn tries to get his frisbee out of a tree represents escape and fruits of your labor, etc etc.
My point is that a kid's cartoon is really not for kids and has in depth inner meaning. I have learned a lot from this "silly cartoon" and it continues to give me artistic inspiration.
Until next time...........
