Dr. Who

Dr. Who. Not the original series or the movie, but the new series which started up in 2005. If you have not seen it, don't. It is seriously addicting, almost like some Time Lord subliminal persuasion is embedded in the subtext.

For those of you "who" have no idea what I am talking about, The Dr. is an alien, a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, who rides around the universe in time and space in his ship called the Tardis ( time and relative dimension in space) which looks like a blue Police Call Box. We never find out his name although a few of his female traveling companions are told.

Each week the Dr. and a companion get involved in some nefarious plot to wipe out the whole of humanity and it's up to the Dr. to save the universe. While watching each episode you are convinced that this is the end of it all, but the Dr. is clever and he and his sonic screwdriver find a way to get out of sticky predicaments with little collateral damage, unless you are a Cyberman or Dalek.

"Community", one of my favorite sitcoms, had much of its episode time devoted to parallel universes and Inspector Space Time " it's not where we are but when we are" ( Dan Harmon was obviously a Dr. Who fan).

The Dr. Who explosion has been remarkable. From merchandising to "Who-a-cons", the popularity, and amongst, all ages cannot be ignored.

Season 9 comes out in the Fall which is the second season for the new Dr. (the other Dr.'s regenerated). Season 1-7 is on Netflix so start watching!
